Welcome to David Yarin Advisory. I’m leveraging my 35+ years of operational and consulting experience in healthcare provider, life science and digital health start-up companies to provide strategic advising to early-stage and evolving companies, as well as to investors who seek subject matter expertise in evaluating or performing due diligence on potential investments or acquisitions.
I have a strong and time-tested belief that advising and consulting should focus on listening carefully to clients (both current and potential) to meet their needs; rather than “hammers looking for nails” as is unfortunately all too prevalent in the consulting industry. Clients should be billed reasonable hours at reasonable rates for the work performed, and they shouldn’t be pressured into buying work that they don’t need.
As part of strategic advising, I combine my 30+ years of experience to identify:
– Commercialization strategies and considerations
– New or expanded market opportunities
– Regulatory compliance and financial considerations
– Potential risks; while…
…simultaneously balancing the above and other practical considerations along with asking the questions that may not have been asked.
I’ve had an extensive career spanning decades in the healthcare and life sciences industries, including serving as an independent advisor to multiple Boards of Directors; including those of national hospital systems, international pharmaceutical manufacturers, and medical device companies. This work gives me a valuable perspective when it comes to creating change in a healthcare system, equipping me with a comprehensive understanding of both the operational intricacies of healthcare and the regulatory frameworks. Additionally, my experience working with startup companies provides me with insights into the dynamics of emerging enterprises and how these contrast with the operations of established organizations. All of this experience, alongside my commitment to sharing my expertise with others – drives my participation with the MaineHealth Intellectual Property & Business Development Committee, serving as a mentor with The Roux Institute Healthcare Founder Residency Program; and serving on the local board and chair of the Quality/Patient Safety Committee for MaineHealth Stephens Hospital.
I’m a lifelong learner, and the continual exposure to new concepts, groundbreaking solutions, and engaging individuals keeps me motivated and committed to the work of assisting startups and local organizations. I bring my vast experience with an understanding that innovation starts with a novel idea, but can only grow into something bigger with both passion from the innovator, and an understanding of the market the idea will address.
